Concrete look walls in Toronto usually begin as a line in a design intent package: concrete, board-formed concrete, cast panels, a cementitious finish. Then the fit-out schedule, the base building and the budget get involved. A troweled concrete effect finish solves all three. It is applied over drywall, plywood, MDF or existing tile, it is seamless, it wraps columns and curves, and it is on site in days rather than shipped from a fabricator in weeks.
Microcement is a cement-based coating troweled in thin layers and sealed. It gives the most literal concrete character: matte, cool grey, quietly mottled, and hard enough for floors, showers, counters and cash desks. A concrete effect Venetian plaster is a lime and marble plaster worked in a spatolato style and tinted to concrete greys. It reads slightly softer and more architectural, with more movement in the tone, and it is the better choice for large feature walls, ceilings and columns. We apply both, and we will tell you which one the surface needs.

Where millwork or a kiosk needs panels, we finish them in our shop and install them. Where the space is an occupied mall or a restaurant that cannot close, we work overnight and in phases. If the surface will be walked on, sat at, splashed or leaned against, microcement. If it is a large feature wall, a ceiling or a column and you want a softer, more architectural concrete with tonal movement, concrete effect plaster. Many projects use both.
Yes. Primed drywall is the most common substrate we work on, along with plywood, MDF, cement board, existing plaster and sound tile.
Sealed microcement resists scuffs and stains and wipes clean, which is why it is used on cash desks, counters and floors. High-contact zones get a harder topcoat. Damage is spot-repaired in place.

For interiors, yes. Same visual language, a few millimetres thick, no engineered substructure and no fabricator lead time. If the design calls for actual panels, we finish lightweight panels in our shop.
