General
What is the difference between Venetian plaster, limewash and microcement?
Venetian plaster is a lime-based finish that creates a polished, marble-like surface with depth and movement. It's ideal for feature walls, fireplaces and ceilings.
Limewash is a softer, matte finish that gives walls an organic, sun-washed texture. It's breathable and perfect for entire rooms, especially in older homes.
Microcement is a thin, waterproof cement coating applied seamlessly to walls, floors, countertops and showers. It creates a contemporary, industrial-modern look.

Do you serve areas outside Toronto?
Yes. We serve the entire Greater Toronto Area (GTA) including Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and Markham. We also have a team in Ottawa and surrounding areas. For projects further afield, please contact us to discuss.
Are your materials eco-friendly?
Yes. We use natural Italian lime plasters, mineral pigments and water-based sealers wherever possible. Lime-based finishes are naturally breathable, mould-resistant and free of VOCs, making them a healthy choice for indoor air quality.
Cost & Timeline
How much does Venetian plaster cost per square foot?
Pricing depends on the finish type, complexity, surface condition and project size. As a general guide, most projects range from $12–$28 per square foot for material and labour. Custom colours, high-polish finishes, or detailed work (curved walls, niches, fireplace surrounds) will be on the higher end. We provide detailed quotes after an initial consultation.
How long does a typical project take?
A single feature wall can be completed in 1–2 days. A full room typically takes 3–5 days depending on the finish and drying times between coats. Larger residential or commercial projects are scheduled in phases and we'll provide a timeline during the consultation.
Is there a minimum project size?
We don't have a strict minimum, but our sweet spot starts around 80–100 square feet (about the size of a feature wall or small bathroom). Smaller projects are welcome — just reach out and we'll work something out.
Process
What does the consultation process look like?
1. Initial contact: Share photos of your space, inspiration images and a brief description of what you're looking for via our contact form, email or phone.
2. Design discussion: We'll discuss colour options, finish types, textures and create a plan tailored to your vision.
3. Sample & quote: For most projects, we prepare sample boards in your chosen colours so you can see the finish in your space's lighting before committing.
4. Scheduling & application: Once approved, we schedule the work and handle everything from surface prep to final sealing.

Do I need to prepare my walls before you arrive?
We handle all surface preparation. Walls should be in reasonable condition — minor imperfections, nail holes and old paint are no problem. If there's significant damage (large cracks, water damage, peeling wallpaper), we'll flag it during the consultation and include any necessary repairs in the quote.
Can Venetian plaster be applied over existing paint?
In most cases, yes. If the existing paint is in good condition and well-bonded, we apply a bonding primer and then build the plaster layers directly on top. Glossy or oil-based paints need light sanding first. We'll assess your surfaces and recommend the best approach.
Durability & Care
How durable is Venetian plaster? Will it crack or chip?
Venetian plaster is extremely durable when properly applied and sealed. It becomes harder over time as the lime continues to carbonate. Hairline cracking can occur if the building structure settles, but this is rare with correct preparation. Our finishes are sealed to resist staining, moisture and everyday wear.
Can I use Venetian plaster or microcement in bathrooms and wet areas?
Microcement is fully waterproof when sealed and is our top recommendation for showers, tub surrounds, and bathroom floors.
Venetian plaster can be used in bathrooms with proper sealing, though we recommend it for walls and ceilings rather than direct wet zones like shower interiors. We'll guide you on the best material for each area.

How do I clean and maintain my plaster walls?
Sealed Venetian plaster and microcement are low-maintenance. For regular cleaning, simply wipe with a soft damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. For stubborn marks, a mild soap solution works well. We provide care instructions after every project.
Can the finish be repaired if it gets damaged?
Yes. Small chips, scratches or scuffs can be touched up and blended seamlessly. One of the advantages of handcrafted plaster is that it can be repaired locally without redoing an entire wall. We offer maintenance visits for our past clients.
